I'm back! And ready to write!

I've spent the last 18 months working on one of the most difficult and most rewarding things in my life. Just last week I completed my MBA in project management from Norwich University. I was hoping that I'd somehow be able to fit writing in between work and school, but I quickly discovered I had no energy left by the end of the day to devote to my novel without sacrificing some quality as well.

I've missed having time devoted to my writing and escaping into the world of the Great Oak. So not only do I feel relief at having survived the past 18 months, but also I'm exulted to have the time I need to get back into Book Two.

On another note, I have a short story that I've been working on sending out to various contest. Also, a screenplay I started many years ago that I thought had been lost forever was finally recovered! Thanks to my brother-in-law, I have my lost screenplay back and I'm looking forward to completing that as well.

Here's to no more studying and more sci-fi/fantasy! I've had more than enough reality than I can handle!

Thank you for being so patient with me and my hectic life. I wish you all well and hope to be sharing some work with everyone, including the reveal of my Book Two title!

My Story

When I was seven years old, my grandfather showed me how he wrote in a journal about every time he saw me, so I could always remember those moments. He later gave me these journals as a gift. The idea of having a place to write down my thoughts inspired me and shortly after, I decided to write in my own journals. I continued that practice for my entire life, and now I have hundreds of pages worth of Google docs to show for it.

When I was in first grade, I started writing stories and reading them to my class. I loved writing about fantasy and one of my first stories that I can remember was about cats that were every color of the rainbow who were capture by a zoo and put on display. It was a fairly dismal story for a first-grader. I think that was the beginning of my obsession with Dystopian worlds.

I continued to pursue writing fiction throughout my life, and earned my BA in English writing in 2008. I began writing my first novel Oriana's Eyes when I was just 14 years old. I published it when I was 24-years-old.

My writing takes many different avenues nowadays, but I continue pursing this passion of mine nonetheless. I am currently 30 years old, live in New England with my boyfriend of 11 years and our two cats Gatsby and Zelda. I am currently working on Book Two of the Great Oak Trilogy and also working full time at a private university. Writing will always be a part of my life and continues to be my favorite form of self-expression.

About the Book

Oriana's Eyes: Book One of the Great Oak Trilogy, takes place in a world where emotion is constrained and belief is forced. Oriana is a pureblood Winglet living in Odon's University, where students are valued based on their race and purity.

Despite being the top in her class, Oriana can't help but feel that what they're teaching her about Odon, their all-seeing God, even about life itself is nothing but lies. It'll take a run-in with Dorian, a mere half-blood, for Oriana to get in touch with her real feelings and to see the truth beyond the University walls.
